@uikandie1 and I spent a few hours this afternoon at the Chicago Botanic Garden. The sky was gray and the sun tried hard to peek through, but never made it. On the other hand, we had plenty of opportunity for shooting bare trees and dried grasses. Most of which lends itself to practicing textures.
Better on black...
Love the tones to this shot! You have made it look like an old painting. Sounds like a great meet up - always good to be out with another photographer! Topaz is great fun to use isn't it?
@pamknowler Glad you liked it -- it's a fun program, isn't it? We're going to combine a trip to the Botanic Garden with Bahai when you're in town, ending at Junko's house.
@taffy I am so looking forward to all of these planned treats! Holiday all paid for now so I really feel I am on my way! Topaz is great fun! I am really enjoying playing with the textures and all the different effects. I wish PS was as easy to use!
Taffy, I love how you must have used that textured background to enhance this image because i know the Botanic Gardens in winter can look rather bleak, and you have create a warm and inviting ambience with your artistry.
That shot could be way out not quite in the wilderness, but maybe a national park or the like. Great use of warming colour and interesting textures to liven up what could've been a much less interesting shot.
@ukandie1 What a great day -- despite the dull sky, I've had fun with the shots and playing with textures and b&w. Looking forward to our next one!

@taffy Northbrook - five minutes away! Icy gravel paths make it harder to investigate in the winter, but the pavement paths are plowed and sanded. Very magical after a good snow!
