I’m afraid I am sometimes guilty of this, but I do try not to be.
This is my overspill bookcase on the landing. My sister, my daughter, and I share books between us, so many of these I haven’t chosen myself, but I am trying to read them all eventually. I need another few years in my life, I think, especially as every time I leave the house I come back with another book. Gah!
I do not keep books! I read and pass along or donate back to charity shop I bought from!! So many

Well I can’t be the only one who has had a prolonged inspection of your book shelves! Overspill too! The hardest thing when we moved was getting rid of our books. I intended having a whole wall of bookshelves but it didn’t materialise because we have too much glass. I had to discard so many only keeping the favourites.
That's a library not a bookshelf! Ha ha. I had a wee browse, and I've read some of those. I love books too, but having moved house/country every 2-3 years almost all of my life, I have never had the luxury of moving books with me. My compromise has been to keep the favourites and keep a register of books read, along with my review, on the Goodreads App. It's a definite compromise, but it works for me.
@jamibann I use Goodreads too. I rarely write reviews unless they are outstandingly good or bad, but as a record of what I’ve read/want to read it’s excellent. I rarely keep fiction books. I belong to a small FB bookclub too which often gives me a new perspective to a book I’ve read.
@onewing It’s so tough isn’t it? Our bookcase in the living room is full of hardbacks because they are too heavy to read in the bath 🤣. Non fiction are mostly in the kitchen as I can dip into them when I am having to hang around in there stirring stuff etc. Dirk’s books are relegated to the spare bedroom. Bookclub suggestions are in a new pile on the floor in the bedroom. I also have a drawer in my bedside table containing books with yellow covers…don’t ask 🤣
@tinley23 Ha ha, the only rooms we don't have books in at a our house are the two bathrooms. Through the rest of our house, we have 27 bookcases and that is after a cull.
