We left Amboise late morning heading for the inland port of La Roche Bernard, some 300+ kilometres north west of Amboise. Just 500 metres from the campsite, whilst crossing one of the two bridges across the River Loire, I put my foot on the accelerator of our RV (Motor Home for Brits, Camping Car for the French) and... nothing! The engine continued to just idle. I will cut to the chase and avoid the long story, but eventually our 8 metre (27 foot) long RV was carted off on a low-loader to the nearest garage capable of diagnosing the problem, which turned out to be the pollution control unit: no replacement available at short notice so pollution control is disabled to enable us to get home - this on a vehicle that has only done 5000 Km.
Instead of arriving at our destination early afternoon, we arrived at nearly 8pm. After dinner, I set out to find a photograph for today and expected to find an image of the large floodlit pleasure port, crammed with expensive yachts... the port was in darkness, not even the access road was lit.
So, at the end of a long day, here is a picture of the bar at the end of the port... and no, I didn't call in for one as I needed to get back and post before midnight... it's tough, sometimes, being a 365er!
@shannejw Thanks Shanne - too late, I thought I ought to get a shot of the RV on the low-loader but the recovery man wouldn't let me go back inside to get a camera!
Wow that was quite the day Richard...............glad you were able to get your shots for 365...........I see you have your priorities in order!! Ha Ha!
BTW, your shot looks great against the black.
Sounds like a day and a half. But you got your 365 shot and what a great shot is is. Looks fantastic on black. The tavern looks like a nice place to stop in for one or two even.
And your saying there isn't a bottle in the RV? Sorry for your problems. Glad you could get underway. Would have loved to see the port. But this is a nice night shot. Good capture under duress.
This is so lovely; it's fabulous against black. Poor you with engine problems. I'm waiting for my little Yaris to go wrong. I've had her for 11 years and we pound Essex roads daily!
