OCOLOY Day 104: Red Carnations by vignouse

OCOLOY Day 104: Red Carnations

We had some friends to lunch on Sunday and they brought with them a gift of a small pot of bright red carnations that they had bought at the Sunday market. It's quite a small plant but Mrs S counted over a 100 buds on it... and it does look very cheery sitting on the kitchen table. As I was just about to come upstairs to my office to work on a photo for today I took four snaps of it in situ and liked this one enough to make it my post for today.

As usual the image is SOOC and is part of my ongoing OCOLOY project - you can read more about it in my profile. Nicer on black I think.
Carnations have a veritable dance of skirts in their petals! Seen like this!

I don't know the technical term Richard, but I really like the different layers of blur and how it correspond with the greytones..

Like the dof so you are drawn to that one flower. With that many buds you could have another go at it.

These carnations, now replanted in a more spacious pot, are coming into their own. They're grouped with other red blooms...dipladenia and camellias in respectively red, red and white and glass containers. A real burst of Spring.

Love the texture of the carnations. Great POV too.

This looks great on my large screen. The i-thingy didn't do it justice.

@jasperc Agreed - it certainly looks better on my 27" monitor than it does on the 'i-thingy'!
