This is Châteaulin on the River Aulne (which forms part of the Nantes-Brest Canal), viewed from the churchyard of the church of Notre Dame high above the town.
As usual, this image is SOOC and is part of my ongoing OCOLOY project - you can read more about it in my profile.
@laroque As you can see, I placed the horizon one third down from the top and the two prominent features - the church and the footbridge - are on the left-hand thirds intersection.
I really like this series of town shots in contrasty b/w, Richard. The processing is just perfect and there is so much to look at and enjoy. You could make a photo-book to show them off,
@jasperc Steve McCurry is one of my photographic heroes - I can't get excited about the latest storm in a teacup. In a lot of the examples that have been posted on the web, a blind man would be glad to see the difference!
@vignouse I'm not about to join the lynch mob. But it does seem to me that he has a case to answer inasmuch as he may have allowed many of his ardent fans to believe they were viewing one type of photography while he was offering another. More significant, I feel, than what he may or may not have done in Photoshop was the charge that one of his photos were "staged" with someone drafted in to model and empty suitcases used as props. But I agree, life is too short to get hot under the collar about this kind of thing.
VML the sharp angles roofs at Chateaulin. Can't be for snow, too close to the sea...after this week I reckon it must be to accommodate significant rainfall. Sharp as a pin...as always.
