...Avebury Hall and the Great Barn. Family day-out to the historic village of Avebury and whilst, for a photographer, this is normally about capturing images of the 6000 year old stone-circle, I found myself drawn to the entrance way of the 16th C hall and great barn.
As usual, the image is SOOC and is part of my ongoing OCOLOY project - you can read more about it in my profile
We loved Avebury - not just for the stones either, but Avebury Hall, the barn, the pub (of course)...so much so that we visited more than we probably should have. I used to love the walk from West Kennet Long Barrow, along "the avenue" and in to Avebury. One of my favourite places and I remember these gates well - excellent shot too, love the play of light and shadow.
@graemestevens I'm glad this brought back some memories. We've had this conversation before: as I was a frequent visitor to the Red Lion on 'Biker Night' - Wednesday evenings - and on Saturday or Sunday afternoons, we agreed that it is highly likely that we were both there at the same time.... and that is scarier than Halloween ;-))
we want to get in as the portal announces a beautiful property
