This took longer to execute than it looks like it did! Any advice on how to have improved the composition gratefully accepted!

Did you try almost filling the frame with the bowl and chopsticks, I am not sure if I like the negative space above the bowl. I do like the simplicity of the set up.

I like the way you have set up the bowl with the chopsticks just waiting to spring into action. They create a nice shadow in the bowl too.i agree with Sally - when I cropped the top the eye is drawn to the subject

Agreed, and I prefer the coloured one, but I can’t think why.

I agree with the above. Ditch the space above. Also prefer the colour version
