The Gaia Theory states that living and inorganic parts of Earth evolved as a single living, self-regulating system. James Lovelock, who developed the Gaia Theory, proposed “life maintains conditions suitable for its own survival".
My own interpretation of this is, our planet will survive, what ever we humans do to it. We as a species will possibly be the shortest lasting ever. If we're honest we're dong all we can to promote our species' survival, not The Planet's!
