My challenge this week from Kali was to do an opinion piece and edit to my liking. Extra point if I could link it to this week's 5+2 .
I hate it when people read the paper with me- that's what this is supposed to show.
Well I nearly threw in the towel on this one. I set up camera and didn't move it, but as you see the exposure changed with each shot. I then failed to get layers working in Ribbet (for some reason the photos loaded up different sizes and I couldn't erase the layers- something I've managed in the past!)
I then tried a collage but it's not seamless, having the fence behind me was a stupid idea!
Thanks Kali for your supportive words and the challenge! I did learn a lot - importance of thinking about and preparing the background, that I need to learn about keeping exposure the same ( no idea about that!) and I really need to go on a course about how to cheat (oops sorry edit!).
This is going to be my selfie for August (3-4-1!!), it's also today's letter for month of words, my get pushed AND 5+2. So that makes it a grand slam of a fourer!!
That's hysterical! I find it the height of rudeness on the London Tube when people read your paper over your shoulder LOL!! I think this is so much fun and I didn't notice the fence issues til you mentioned them - I think I was too focussed on the faces! So much fun to try out something new, well done.
That's very clever Sis; I too hate it when people are reading over my shoulder, not as much as I hate it when people start interfering when I'm cooking!!
You've said you've edited it in Ribbet (not familiar with that processing software) Have you tried Photoshop or Lightroom? The exposure of the middle pic is slightly different to left and right, colour of the fence panel gives it away.
of course Jackie! x3 i like it in spite of the technical issues.
to get the exposures the same you need to use all manual settings, for aperture, shutter speed and focus etc. that way the camera doesnt make a different decision each time. Have your camera on a tripod and dont move it at all , you need to frame the shot(s) so you can get all three of you in that space. puzzling they would load up different sizes
I havent used ribbet
@summerfield many thanks, any tips for my Ribbet failures please?? @kali66 I won't pay for Photoshop as edit so infrequently. I'll have another go on manual settings- must remember I have a M button and learn to use it!! @phil_sandford many thanks!! Loathed lightroom when doing OU course, cancelled subscription asap!! Edit so infrequently I won't pay the monthly subscription!! @casablanca very kind!! @quietpurplehaze my dad used to say ' Wouldn't it be better if.......' and it was sooooo annoying, Phil must have got his similar aversion from Mum!!!
This is an awesome selfie - so creative and fun with a unique concept and excellent execution for it.
It's a FAV.
I have a funny feeling your exposure problem is due to the sun moving behind a cloud in one shot and coming out in the other two.
Okay, Jackie - I have been thinking and musing and contemplating what to give you for this week's get pushed challenge and figured it out.
I have been following you for a while, and notice that most of your shots are the stationary kind.
How about adding some motion to them with panning?
Hope this suits!
@30pics4jackiesdiamond
This is one technique that just takes practice. It really is easy - but it does take practice.
Set your camera to continuous with a relatively slow shutter speed and then follow along with a pet walking or running, a biker, a car, or even a pendulum.
I set it to continuous because there is bound to be at least one shot that turns out decent out of the sequence.
Also - it's neat how we all have our skills. I enjoy panning, and am relatively good at it but have never done well with multiple exposures.
You, on the other hand, are so good with multiple exposures!
Agreed: newspaper reading should be a solitary activity. :). Love this photo! I think you did very well dealing with all of the challenges and ended up with a super result.
LOL your title! :) Listen, you learned a lot as you said it yourself :) It's not easy. I never used to edit photos until 5 Plus 2 - and I am not good - but there are always so many different things to do and learn along the way. So kudos!
This is awesome Jackie, what a fabulous idea. The facial expressions are awesome, what a wonderful fun shot. You should get extra brownie points for it. Fav
@ludwigsdiana very kind!! @merrelyn not had clouds for a week now!!! @kerosene thank you, possible to learn much from failure and this was a mega fail, but glad I uploaded as given many à smile!!
Very clever, I don't think it's a failure even if the fence doesn't line up. I have seen this done before on 365 and must give it a go one day. I just need a few more hours in a day at the moment though.

Easy and immeidate fav from me :-)

Really? Absolutely no clouds in the sky? Poor you!
I have been following you for a while, and notice that most of your shots are the stationary kind.
