Old Man's Beard

Old man's beard ( seedheads of a wild clematis) can be used as an indicator of the expected severity of the upcoming winter. Rural folklore states that lots of fluffy seedheads means a hard winter ( or is it the other way round - a mild one?). Anyway, there's lots of it about and it looked pretty in front of tonight's, quite frankly disappointing, sunset.
Super silhouette shot Jackie

This plant is a raging pest around here - you have to tell the council if you see even one head!
