Inspired by the recent exploits of Vikki S and I am in awe of her persistence, flare, expertise and amazing results. This was one of 126 (taken on burst) shots and only one of four that was anywhere near ok-ish.
Our water is from high pressure springs and it takes hours for the haze of the bubbles to die down (Phil you may recall throwing away the cloudy water from the tap and turning up the flow to clear the murk which made it worse!?)
I ran out of food dye and bubble free cold water from the 'fridge. I also ran out of the will to live after five attempts and the camera battery also ran out so that decided me to stop.
it looks like one of those tests the psychiatrist gives you. :-) you could have changed the orientation so that it looked like a funnel cloud.
okay, food colouring - you need to put oil on top of the water then put in a drop of the food colouring. the colouring will seep through the oil slowly or you can pierce it with a toothpick and then you shoot. lighting on the side or directed to your background.
see what i mean with the waste of water! how big was your container?
What a tale of persistence! It was interesting to see yours and to read Vikki's comment and see the difference in the results from the different techniques. Vikki's are so well defined but I also like the way yours has a softer feel - it would make an awesome background for a composite of some sort. Cheers Rob :)
@merrelyn look on Google @randystreat really? @shannejw wish not started @Dawn perhaps slight exaggeration!!! @grammyn see comment to dawn above! I'm such a drama queen @fbailey oh yout think i failed? So do I!! @robz well she is a genius and my mentor!! @summerfield I didn't Google how to, just went in gung ho!! aha! and i have discovered that once the water has settled and the bubbles are clinging to the sides, all you need do is stir the container and the bubbles will go bye-bye! drama queen, you! :-P
