Fish and chips, a stroll along the promenade and then vegan ice creams ( one of which a flock of herring gulls ate when daughter was mugged by one from behind!)

I like the simple starkness of this. It seems at odds with your description of a pleasant family outing ( except for the stolen ice cream) in its simplicity.
