So, this morning Ken and I set out to take some pictures of town scenery to share with you all. A pretty day, I got some nice ones, and I was satisfied I had my picture to post for the day. We headed out for the grocery, 20K away in Bridgewater, and got meals to restock the fridge.
Coming home, we were nearly to the house, when we saw our wonderful friends Mike, Vivian and Bob who waved us to come over. You'll see, what made this not a typical stopover was that Mike's the owner of the funeral home in town and Vivian & Bob are ministers, all about to prepare for a funeral at the church. For all of us, that's just one of those things that happens. When I asked them if I could get a couple quick pictures, Mike chided me that he *knew* they'd end up on the Internet!
Last summer, Mike, Vivian and I took Photoshop classes together every week in a friend's home. Bob is Mike's dad and a retired United Church minister. Mike & his partner have been to California to visit us a couple of times. We're all fast friends!
When we left there and arrived home, Dill was waiting for us in our driveway. We unloaded the car & put groceries away before Ken gathered what he needed and prepared to go fishing with a friend. I was happy that I'd be free to get on the computer and stroll around 365 for several hours...when there was a knock at the back door. It was another friend, dropping by unexpectedly...
Is this the church from your video that featured the two Oxen? It is a lovely photo....the white and the blue...(and the black of the hearse) are just so vivid! P.S. Thanks for allowing me to grab the photo of "The Duke" statue from your site...it's now my screen saver :-)
We have about 5 churches in our neighborhood...well, the town is small... This is not the one with the oxen video, but that church in the video is just a couple blocks away, too. And we face a church across the park from our house... lots of church choices...
How fun! The church is beautiful. It does look a little funny that they look so happy while standing next to a hearse, but who can help but smile when old friends return?
Thanks for your comment, Louise! I also liked the haziness/dreaminess of it. The aromatherapy for me = a manicure for you ;) It's good to remember to pamper ourselves.

It would be magic in Nova Scotia.
Love your photo and story. I miss friends "stopping by." We don't do that in California the way people did when I was growing up in NH.
Wherever you go there seems to be fun & smiles, even preparing for a funeral! It's wonderful that you've settled right back to life NS, look lovely, kind of Scandanavian, have seen your shutterfly pics! This is a great portrait! : )
It certainly sounds like you are settling in nicely in Nova Scotia! I am glad to hear you have already had an opportunity to start catching up with some of your friends there. The ones in the photo here look so happy to see you - which is not suprising at all! :) From what we have seen so far your town looks quite idyllic. Looking forward to seeing more. PS. Sue forwarded me the photo you sent her of you in the store holding that magazine -- HILARIOUS! You are too much!
thank you Louise for your nice remarks. I use picasa to make the collage which you can downloaded....I learned each things everytime I played with it.....
One of the things I most strongly remember of my only visit to the Maritimes, was of all the lovely little churches ( with their tiny graveyards ) seemingly, on every street corner....so this photo brings it all back!
Glad that you're enjoying yourself - not that I ever had any doubt - and that the Luneys of Lunenberg ( she says, with love!) are welcoming you once again, into their fold.
And yes...I often feel like SOMEONE is sending me a message! ;-)
Funny, with my shot yesterday, I just didn't have a picture in mind, and wandered aimlessly around the backyard taking pictures of this or that - I usually find SOMEthing interesting - but I wasn't really happy with anything that I felt could adequately represent the day, until I stepped back inside and noticed the three little buds. So that photo was the last picture out of about 100, that I took.
And I didn't really have a thought as to what I was actually going to write until I just sat down and posted the pic. ;-)
i know you will settle down in no time! :) you are always so full of energy and fun! i have no doubt that Nova Scotia will become more "alive" because of you :) btw, can you bring some blue sky and beautiful sunshine to here? it's gloomy again today! :(
oh dear louise, seems like you're really having a ball down at NS! this photo has such a very good contrast of black and white. without the caption story above, who would imagine you did not set this up? how lovely!
just as i suspected...you truly are a social butterfly!!
it sounds as though your summer is off to a wonderful start....and I just took a look at the pictures on shutterfly - what a stunning spot your in!!!
keep enjoying!! :)
Looks like they were just dying to see you again. :-)
Great to view some of your summer 'hood, too. Wonderful pics. As I told you before, the town looks so quaint that I can see why you fell in love with it.
