We've just returned from our second trip to Prince Edward Istand, and I came away with images that will always remain with me. Behind the scenes, there must be a very real sense of pride by the homeowners as *every* yard, both small and expansive, is manicured and pristine. Along this northern coast where we stayed and went sightseeing, there are cottages and more cottages and I imagine the summer season is quite bustling. Everywhere we saw signs on motels that read, "See You in May", and here, there were many more geese than people.
The resort where we stayed plans this Thanksgiving weekend every year. They provide the cabins, and gave us vouchers for each meal in a different location around the area. Some of it was touristy, some charming, some truly local with live music by a fiddler and guitarist. It's quaint and unabashed and is a million miles away from my other life in Southern California!
wonderful shot - the cottages, the geese in flight... How far is Prince Edward Island from your summer house? How do you get there? Drive, train, boat? Just curious... :)
@suelbiz47 The drive from our home, an hour south of Halifax takes about 4 hours, crossing part of New Brunswick, to the gorgeous 14 km (10 mi) bridge. It's about another hour (maybe less if one doesn't stop again and again for photos!) to drive to the north side. (It's the smallest province, only about 171 miles wide). For fall color, it was a spectacular weekend!
Wow!! This is such a great pic in so many ways! It's simple, yet there is lots to look at. I love the colours, the symmetry, and the way the geese in the sky 'reflect' the ones on the ground. It's also interesting to me because those modern homes are a world away from the PEI I know from Anne of Green Gables. Can't wait to visit in person!
@tabbycat Thanks so much for such a thoughtful and nice comment! You'd laugh to know that only about 2 km from this spot is the homestead of Lucy Maude Montgomery, the Haunted woods & The House of Green Gables...we visited it all while in Cavendish. I took almost 1000 photos in 3 days...what an amazing place that island is! You'll love a visit there!
@bradsworld You're young yet... One day you'll be on a tour or cruise to this neck of the woods...as long as you leave "may be" in your vocabulary! Twelve years ago I'd have had trouble pointing out which province was Nova Scotia!
Great shot!
Love the iconic Canada Geese :)
