First Snowfall by Weezilou

First Snowfall

There's nothing like it, is there?! Ken woke me at 7 to tell me there was snow on the ground, and I couldn't get out fast enough, camera in hand! We spent the next two hours retracing our steps of the day before, but, not even going through them all, this first of the morning just thrills my heart! It's everything we'd hoped to see by staying here longer this year!

I may or may not get the following photo posted, but on our last stop before returning home, I wanted a photo from the bottom of the park, looking across the snow and up to our house. But what an unexpected sight greeted me! Around the bandstand were already dozens of Christmas trees, prepared for decorating! A truck pulled up with another load and I asked how many they'd place in the park...100! We've been told by everyone how spectacular the scene is, but I never imagined this...and they're not even decorated!

We spent the entire day out after that...shopping for a Thanksgiving Open House next week, getting a pedicure and racing back to the Academy for the evening lecture with a flutist. We ran out of time to go cut a little Christmas tree; we'll do that tomorrow if the weather stays nice...

It was an absolutely wonderful, and absolutely exhausting day! Every minute of it!
Beautiful!!

Post-card perfect shot. And even better because you are so excited about it. Winter really does want to be loved, it can't help that it is so cold-hearted.

@fugitivemoments Oh Linda! Your sentiment brings a tear to my eye! I'll give you the credit, but I must make my photo into some cards and add your quote to it! It's so exquisitely perfect! Yes, dear friend, I'm over-the moon about this event! We went out and cut 4 small Christmas trees today to decorate the house for the Thanksgiving party we're throwing next week. We're excited that all our friends are excited about it, too! Well, yes, I AM excited about this season and all that's forthcoming...hard to keep a lid on it! Wishing you the same! ♥

@Weezilou You are a very sweet woman! Of course, you are welcome to the words - words are meant to be shared. Hope your party is everything you wish it to be. ;-)

A beautiful winter shot . A great view on the city surrounding and beautiful church covert by nice first fresh snow.
So sorry for all that much snow in New York state.
Our day`s could n`t be more opposite. I stay all day at home working on a new brooch. Glad we both enjoy ours.

Is this going to be the cover for your holiday cards? It looks totally professional. What an iconic winter scene!

@taffy What a lovely compliment, Taffy, Thank you! Until we see the grandkids, it remains to be seen. Before our Thanksgiving party, I'm getting a copy framed to put in the dining room...it's time to replace the crow sitting on the tombstones until next year ;)

Wonderful shot Louise. I simply can't imagine what it's like to have snow to deal with for months and months.
November 21st, 2014
This is wonderful Louise. It reminds me of the kind of Christmas cards I loved as a child.

@golftragic haha...we won't "deal with it"...we head back to California in mid-December ;)

November 24th, 2014
@ceilidh Oh Sweet Margaret :) Things as SO GOOD I haven't had a moment at the computer! Another visit and photos with Linda, music at the academy, dinners with friends two nights in a row and we're in the midst of arranging an "American Thanksgiving Open House" this coming TH... Yes, I have tons of photos anfd no time at the computer! You're so thoughtful to ask... maybe I should just post our Thanksgiving invitation to let people know what's keeping us busy! (We'll have TWO 365 members in attendance...plus about 50 others :) Life will slow down measurably back in CA! Thank you thank you for coming by... I would so love to have you come visit anytime after late June next year... Seriously! My best to you across the pond! ♥
November 24th, 2014
This would make a beautiful Christmas card Louise!

Terrific capture :)
November 25th, 2014
Is this the shot you have used. It will make a great card and look forward to seeing the end result.

Yes it does look like we are a party of two, but that's all right we can still sing and dance like nobody is watching. Have a great Christmas
December 15th, 2014
@scarybird This was the only day we had snow during our stay this year...so I went with it. I used Shutterfly and this is the cover of the card (with a thin border around it.)

I do a lot of singing and dancing like nobody's watching, so it's nice to have some company!
