Our daughter-in-law, Tina, is a huge fan of "All Things Alice", so I gathered together the few items I have left in the house to make this Birthday Card for her. I really love doing this sort of thing, but it's why I can't get "just a note" written in a timely fashion! Well, two projects accomplished for the effort! I think Bodhi is making a cake with "lots of candies on top"... That's "candies"...not "candles"! He says it's going to be vanilla with chocolate icing. Papa and I wish we could be there to celebrate with them "and blow on the candies!"
Since I'm "playing with toys again", and the theme is "Opposites", I could say Alice & The white rabbit are sitting opposite one another (lame, I know!) or how about that this 2015 adaptation is quite opposite from the 1941 print version in the book that was mine as a child... She IS told that her hair needs cutting and is a mess...I got THAT right!
@allie912 ...awww, thanks Allie... I wanted her to see it as my nod and wink just for her :) (And I love the darling teensie stickers I found in the $ Store yesterday!
@taffy It was the poison. Seems to have left her blind...
(You can do only so much with a little Diva doll who isn't willing "to bend"... If I'd spent two minutes longer and noticed it, I would have dotted in a spot of light!) haha...Thanks Taffy!
I think it would go against your Leo grain to "just write a note in a timely fashion and send it off"! I mean, how much more fun is it to put something like this together, and of course, when you have so many projects going nothing gets done on time. This is such a special and personal card.....love it!
@panthora Thank heaven "it takes one to know one!" As I write, I have a couple of little things for you on the table here...nothing major...don't get too excited ;-) Before them come the Christmas thank-you notes "I built in Shutterfly" and of course I can 't send those without a short written note... I wonder how many half-finished projects I'll have laid out on my final day! (Actually, it's probably always about a constant number!)
@Weezilou Louise, you have been on my mind for days now, but of course, you totally understand how busy we get, how sidetracked with so many other things and never get around to the ones that truly matter!! I have been meaning to ask you for days now....could you be kind enough to send me your mailing address in CA (via email, of course)....I had something for you, but did not know where to send it!
@pyrrhula Ferry...well, thank you, but coming from YOU with ALL your talent, that's quite a compliment! I love photographing things I can make into cards or just e-cards. (You know how I like to write :) That said, I LOVED ♥ the exquisite glass are you (don't) collect! What a laugh I got out of that comment! So much to write back to you about and will do so soon. My daughter & her husband are celebrating their birthdays this weekend (my baby is turning 40!) so it will be next week before I can reply...wanted to let you know! Again, thanks so very much for liking this enough to make it a fave...
@ceilidh Thanks so much Margaret! That book you see was a well-read favorite of mine, too. The Christmas I was seven, the Disney Alice was in the theaters, and all my presents were "Alice -based"! My grandmother made me a dress to match my Madame Alexander Alice doll, and I got Alice puzzles and such. Most sadly,no one took pictures of the event! Photos were a somewhat rare occurance, even though my dad was a hobbyist photographer. I would love to have had those today!
@kwiksilver Thanks Gillian! Just finished another that I'm about to upload. My daughter & family arrived for the weekend & Ashley said of the tableau that I'd not yet taken down, "I see it, but I'm not even going to ask!" Hard to get in touch with your inner child when you're raising very little boys still , I suppose! ;-)
eeeekkkk! that doll looks like that girl in the movie the exorcist. yaiks! don't tell tina! and wasn't she ever taught to sit down like a lady? the doll, not tina! :-P
@summerfield yes, Taffy first commented on "her obvious blindness" ...I'm sure it was the poison she drank on her way down... She's intractably stiff and inflexible thought I begged her again and again to relax... She's truly quite unladylike, but then, she IS just a little girl at the present...and they'e prone to do as they damn well please, dontcha know!
@Weezilou Sorry for the late replay. I doing fine by now .I can use one finger to push the keys, that`s enough . A congrats to you daughter and husband .
You`re very welcome, the compliments are well deserved by you.
``when I tripped on a typo`` I copy it , make the improvement , post it and delete the first .
