My friend, M'ellen, loves strong colours in her life, so it was a joy to celebrate in their new "Big Room" addition to what was originally a water-side cottage when we first dined with them fourteen years ago! They've kept the original pine-covered walls in the living room so as to maintain the flavour of where it all began, but boy was it a bugger to get brightly lit photos in that original setting. And me, I love colour, too, so I thought this space was beautiful!

@chard I thought it was wonderful as well! For years, in California, I always stood working in my shadow... finally someone realized there needed to be lighting under the cabinets and OVER the workspace! What a concept!
@kwiksilver My friend, M'ellen, fills every aspect of her life with turquoise and tangerine accent colours. You wouldn't believe how it suits her! Yes, she's thrilled with the addition and that the house has now been winterized so that they can live there year-round if they choose. It's a gem of a place, but she's not at all showy about it...just loves to have her friends fill it!
