Actually, I'm getting ready to order some note cards, so I decided to do a series of animals with the textures. Now I can upload early as I'm having another procedure done for my back injury (of last May) this afternoon. Not a biggie, but I'll be tired when I come home and may not write much tonight.
I just love this. Every time you load one of these shots I have to show my sister. We have never seen a racoon and I have fallen in love with this one!! What a lovely idea to do not cards of your animals. I suppose I could do the same with either shots of Finlay or robin shots (I have so many!!) Fav for my favourite!!
@pamknowler Isn't it something to realize that elsewhere in the world, what's commonplace here, is "foreign" to others! For many, a raccoon is considered a pest. They're known to dig i gardens and open trash looking for food. The answer seems obvious to me...*feed them*! I've never had a problem! For the entertainment value alone that they bring, I'm happy to set food out for them nightly! (Marshmallow arrives like clockwork at 8:45 nightly. He doesn't get his treats until he eats a proper/cat food dinner!) I've made a number of videos of the visiting raccoons...this is a cute one I made up in Canada a couple of years ago https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YfigZdSUkVs To see more of my vieos, just put "weezilou" into the youtube search! You and your sister, enjoy!
A great shot of this ( for me) cute and beautiful looking animal. We do n`t have them here so it`s easy to say, but in true , I believe any animal has his need and place worth on earth.
Thank you for you so nice comment on my last pic. I`ll do one more .
My father had a raccoon mama come thru the dog door and intimidate his pet cat. She moved in with her babies and ate all the cat's food until my father realized Matilda was looking awfully skinny. My father finally got the coons out and locked the car door. Probably started because he also fed the raccoons nightly!
Be that as it may, I love the texture you have chosen here. Suits the subject perfectly.
I love textures! One of my favorite subjects to shoot! I never gave them a second thought until I started this project and now I constantly notice the texture of everything. This raccoon is just adorable! I enjoyed reading your comments about feeding your raccoons. I hope your procedure went well today. Fav!
Oh no! More back work? So sorry to hear you are still having problems with that. Glad you posted this when you did....I LOVE it. Wish we had wildlife like this in our neighborhood -- not just the coyotes. (They woke us up again last night about 3:00 a.m.) This is absolutely adorable.... Instant FAV.
Like several other folks I've never seen a racoon either, we don't have them in Oz. He looks so cute, but I'm wary of 'cute' in wild animals. Our possums look cute but are a darned pest (ask our Kiwi friends!).
@gaylewood@bill_fe@lsanderson55@aglennc Thanks for your notes today; I love sharing this little guy! The back procedure went smoothly enough (3 injections along the spine). I came home and went right to sleep; woke and thought it must be about 3am but it's only just after 10! I'll ice my back again and turn in shortly; I always enjoy coming back to read comments! Oh, and "Marshmallow" was there when I got up! Ken said he'd been around a long while...obviously waiting for me to give him his snacks! He stands up like a little bear! I must try for a good photo of that...but not tonight! @golftragic TJ in NZ told us about the way your two countries regard them! Many years ago we were in Tasmania, staying at Frasaine (sp?) nat'l park. Walking from our quarters to the lodge, I remember one darling possum following us along the walkway! Total cuteness! I agree that all wild animals need to be approached (or NOT approached!) carefully! And while we do set out a plate of food for him, it's late when he shows up and the other cats have eaten (for the most part...as in the case of Doppie, whom he pushed aside!) @allie912 As Allie said, I have no doubt he'd come in, but we're not going there! And we don't have a dog door! Thanks, though, for the story, well told, Allie!
@taffy@kerristephens@rosiekind@joansmor@pyrrhula@kwind@thresheg Thank you all! As noted by a couple of you, he IS a cutie! But Joan probably nailed it when she called him a Rascal! He has a style that would reel one in...like being cute and adorable and full of tricks!
@tj22 That wasn't the word Ken used this morning when he noticed his freshly planted herb pots had been dug up! I tried to put the blame on the squirrel, but Ken was having no part of it!
I hope you are recovered from your procedure, Louise! That kind of stuff is no fun at all! Would you mind telling me where you order your notecards. I have looked online but never found anything I like. I had some once a few years ago but was not pleased with them. You can email me at yumasuzie@gmail.com if you want. Thanks!!
Thanks dear Louise for you lovely comments . Kim was a very listener/obediently boy at that time. If you told him to wait he wait on that place as long as it takes. When we get to a bakery and they ask him he want a biscuit he kindly ask ; can I have a bare sandwich instead ? Of course he get one. Then he ask: can I have one for my brother to ? That he did for a long time. He was a kid every one loves to have.
To be true, there was no reason for capture s that way. it was just a hype in magazines. But that was long after I took my pic.`s I just loved the contrast and the question asking : is this the/his future?
Ahhhhhhhhhahahahahahaha!! He looks like he's up to something!!! Love this!! FAV! I lived in a place in Minnesota, until I was 13, called "Coon Lake Beach" population 100 and it was named after the Raccoons that were prevalent out there. I swear, the entire time I lived there, I never seen one!! I think they are soooooooooo cute! We have plenty of them here in GA. but we have dogs so they don't visit here!! This guy of yours is just soooooo cute!! Love the POV and your textures!! FAV!
@joysfocus He was just here...regular as clockwork at 8:45! I used the flash for the first time tonight, and...surprise...that works much better! The boys are visiting...Ash wouldn't let them stay up to see him, so I'll show them the pictures tomorrow!
@creativeaddict Hi Laur! My order left my computer just before dinner! I've found my creative muse in all these textures, and I'm making my way through them by my own rules! Such fun! I know you know exactly what I mean!
He's fabulous. We have one in our backyard...I would love a shot like this, but he comes out about 2 or 3 in the morning. Charlie knows he's there, but we can't see him. One night though Charles and Charlie we on the couch trying to see him when his face appeared on the other side of the glass with paws on the ledge. Didn't wake me up though..... Love the texture behind him...well done.
@annied Hi Annie, For several years I've been ordering note cards from a company called Shutterfly. It might not be as inexpensive for you to get them in Australia as it is for us here, but sometimes the cost to Canada is actually less than the US because they don't charge tax there! Send me an email add and I'll send you the same information I sent to Suzie. When they offer a deal, it's a *really good deal*! Worthy checking into!
"loose time" sleeping.. I wish I had this attitude! I've seen raccoons here only once, mother with two cubs and thought it was pretty cool. Hope you are doing well!
