While Ken's been busy working in the yard, I busied myself with some texture play. I didn't take it too far as I already liked the look of the water as the duck sat by the side of the pool.
It was good to be "warming up" , as my daughter sent me a rectangular photo of her husband that he'd like to use for a (square) cover of a CD. I've got some ideas for making it work, so we'll be sending notes back and forth this evening I suspect!
@janetb Thank you Janet! I'm pretty sure this is "our" Sir Francis! It's a pleasure not to leave the yard to photograph these beautiful birds, he and his buddies!
@pamknowler Thanks, Pam! The water was the background...I just added some texture and deeper colouration...and a tid-bit of text, too...I can't resist that stuff!
@Weezilou how funny I didn't even notice the text! I am so used to seeing it in your fab shots Louise it didn't register! Do you add the text in PS or is it a texture? Still learning!
@pamknowler The par avion was part of a cancellation on an old postcard. I removed the address, and then realized I needed to reduce the size of the lettering. There was a plane in the cancellation as well, but removed it when I decided I didn't like it. I'm finding I can better pair bits like that with layering in PS. Prior to that, I'd run the background (not the duck) through Photo effects. Threw a cloud in there as well, but lightened it! Do we need a one-night slumber party while in Chicago? It sounds as though you have a lot to share as well!
@Weezilou my editing skill are very basic! I was just happy to learn what the sliders did in the new version of LR plus improve my cloning in PS! We touched on layers but that was to make sure I could go back a few steps if I didn't like my edit and I wouldn't loose all the work. That was new to me. I now have to practice what I have learned so far to make sure it sticks! Both programmes are so huge and I have only scratched the surface. It's a hard decision do I spend more time learning how to take a better photo and therefore less processing needed. Or spend my time learning the post processing in depth. I think in the end I want to improve my camera, skills! That's because sitting at the computer for hours makes my knees seize up! Lol!
@Weezilou thanks for all the info Louise . I haven't yet got to grips with merging two photos. I couldn't make it work on my old desktop and old version of PS. With my new system I hope to get to grips with it. I am just thrilled I have got my filing system sorted in LR and proper backups set up! Small steps at the moment as I am suffering a bit from information overload! Lol! Sorry to take over your post!
