Nice photo. I like the desaturated color setting off the black and white and gray cat. HIs fur looks painted on. Did you use some sort of drawing or sketching effect.?
@mbrutus We have a challenge around here that comes up with some frequency...it's called ETSOOI (edit the shit out of it)...and this is a good example! I only got my first tablet and app within the month, so I ran the photo through all the choices! I took one that was mostly outlines, and, in PS, made them poster edges, so stronger. Then I took the original, and layered the line drawing over it, decreasing the opacity. I also used the color selector to remove most of the white in the line drawing and that exposed the black below. (Come to think of it, I *may* have placed the line drawing over an already altered app photo in color.... But you get the idea! It's all fun and games!
Ha ha, that is funny - etsooi!! Editing isn't something I have worked out at all yet lol - you get what came out of the camera most of the time, which is WYSIWGY - what you see is what you get!! Cat looks fantastically textured but slightly jaundiced!! You clearly had a lot of fun :)
Oh what cool processing! And of course an adorable kitty. Your instructions sound so complicated but I do the same thing too and don't even remember the steps. I just ETSOOI until I like the look of it.
@joysfocus I could get heaps more done in an hour if I didn't ETSOOI 4 times over for each photo! haha! And yes, most times I have NO idea how I got there!
@gardenfolk Since people began to get apps on cell phones, I wanted "apps, but no phone!" No I've got my first tablet and signed up for two apps (which seem like plenty!) and then I throw the "app'd image" into photoshop and layer it some more and then put some final textural touches on it... So people go so abstract that it's unrecognizable, but I've never taken one that far. It's just silly, relaxing fun!
@Weezilou My cellphone IS my camera for the last 4 years! Prior to that, I had an Olympus that took film and then a Canon Power Shot A640 digital camera. I take most photos in natural light and very few at night...that is where I always have difficulty no matter what kind of camera. Some of the photos apps are pretty amazing how they can completely change a photo into a colorful painting that would normally take hours to achieve. Yes, they can be fun to play with and can salvage a mediocre picture into something quite grand!
