Our friends, Lana and Mike arrived in town last night and today we did a brief coastline tour.
**Highlight** __We saw a whale breach and surface several times just off the beach in Corona del Mar!!! It was so exciting and wonderfully unexpected, AND I got one semi-suitable picture that proves I saw it (though not suitable for framing!)
Here, we'd stopped for lunch at a nice restaurant overlooking Laguna Beach, before coming back up the coast where we stopped in a wonderful Mexican market and bought samplers of a dozen different foods. I think anything eaten in small quantities is now referred to as Tapas (Ken calls it "grazing"), and we washed it down with Margaritas as we sat out by the pool and watched the ducks come and go, entertaining us all the while!
I'd love to hear the stories they'll tell friends about their "unusual" friends who entertain wildlife in the back yard! Our day was wonderful, and we have much the same planned again tomorrow.
Thank you all for the congratulations you sent about my butterfly on the Top Twenty! I'll be back to each of you next week, but this weekend is going to be about Fun with Friends. ♥
Nice pic Louise! Looks like you have lovely California weather for your guests! A little Mexican food, Margaritas and ducks for entertainment?!? Where do I sign up? :)
OMG you saw a whale breach and surface several times? I am on the next flight! Lol! How exciting louise! Sounds like the perfect weekend to me! Have another lovely day with Mike and Lana who knows what animals will pop up to say hello! Lovely shot of your friends with that gorgeous backdrop!
@pamknowler (Last note for the night...it was a delightfully full day!) Fingers crossed for such an opportunity ourselves one day! You would indeed have loved the beach we went to, the most-amazing "homes" overlooking it and the beauty of the day...truly perfect! I'll be in touch after the weekend...brunch at Duke's again in the morning and a walk on the pier!
Oh oh oh, just look at the brilliance of that sunshine! California is such a different climate to London! Great that you all saw a whale too. Never seen one for real, how wonderful.
Wonderful photo. I like Ken's description of tapas! What a wonderful itinerary, lovely locales and a whale to boot! Enjoy your time with these sweet friends!
