Over the years I've had trusting squirrels in the yard, but of the several that come around, this is the first who's been willing to take food from my hands in a long while! Over 20 minutes and 10 photos, I was seated, she was eating from my hand and staying on the table next to me! A little female, I'[m wondering if it's not Posh who already was pretty comfortable in my presence for the last couple years!
Had I been on board sooner, this could have been tagged for the 5+2 Hobbies challenge!
This is great! I used to have a squirrel who would come to me for peanuts and if I was too slow, he'd tug on my shoelaces! And my neighbor's squirrel would knock on her door. I guess they'll do anything for peanuts! Have fun with your squirrel friends!
He'll be stealing your peanut butter sandwiches off your plate in no time now! Not to mention snuggling up in front of your fire on the coldest days looking for snacks. What a gorgeous photo - I love the delight on your face.
@Cherrill I loved your comment(s)! That Rose Geranium has been out there for years and we're forever cutting it back! We just put some of the sprigs in the ground and let them take off...same with plumeria (frangipani)... California does have some nice qualities! (That geranium makes a nice filler in the floral bouquets I get at Costco...and we never run out! So happy to share garden stories with you!
@louannwarren@gilbertwood@joannakate@judithdeacon@pamknowler@seattlite@amyk@gardenfolk Thank you all for the lovely comments and faving this picture. Understandably, it was a pretty exciting moment which I'll continue to nurture! I have a great appreciation for a husband who will step away from his desk to take some photos of the moment when I ask him! Juggling a selfie at this moment would be unlikely to happen!
What an incredible moment and capture! I love it. Of course this is a fav. I'm pretty sure squirrels, ducks and other animals love your yard and the welcoming atmosphere there.
