While many are fortunate to live where fruit can seasonally be picked for pleasure, I marveled at the several banana trees growing on the grounds where we stayed in Kauai. When I was kindergarten age, living on Oahu, we had a banana tree out back, and when the fruit looked like this, my dad would cut down the laden bunch and hang it by the back door! The small Hawaiian bananas had an essence of honey flavor mingled with that tropical taste. Now, back home, I look at this photo and my mouth waters for a tropical fruit salad!
Great colourful image and a wonderful narrative. From your description the bananas taste divine but unfortunately I am allergic to them and even the smell of bananas makes me feel ill! I will continue to admire them from a distance! 🤣
tropical fruit salad can be purchased in a large can at costco. 😊 your posts aren't showing in my feed or probably just buried under the gazillion posts by some people flooding my feed. we also had a copse of banana plant behind our old family house back in the old country. a haven for bats and for teenagers wanting to catch the dew from the banana heart believing it would give them some kind of superpowers. glad to see you posting again. i was thinking of you on your birthday, but i forgot to greet you. i'm getting far too old, as you know. aces on the shot.
@summerfield "Fruit salad in a can" is for people without the fruit trees! Your childhood tropical fruits would have been akin to mine! However, here we're growing guava, citrus fruits and passionfruit in the yard; bananas, of course, are easy to come by, as are the mangos & (Mexican) papaya, making for a fresh, tropical fruit salad! I'm still not posting with any regularity...enjoying more the "making of paper craft" and collages! When I did the last couple youtube classes, I had something to post (as in "let friends know Covid hadn't taken me!") Thanks for the kind thoughts, m'friend... I have so many activities I want to do, and never enough time! (I also tend to procrastinate! hahaha/funny/not funny!)♥ (PS...If we can get out of bed in the morning, we're not too old yet!!)
