After lunch, I went for a walk around campus as there's a wealth of photo moments. With the light highlighting these already-brilliant gazanias I found them irresistible. Behind me I heard a voice asking if he might see the photo. It was a student who was interested in my interest in photography. It was so nice of him to take a few minutes to chat with me. I told him (the music director) was my SIL and he said, yes, he knew. He'd seen us around campus. Later, I told John, and he said that this was a remarkably nice young man and a graduating senior. I decided to make him a graduation card using the photo we were discussing. Inside, I added the photo of the stage production as he is in the picture. On the back I put two more small photos I'd taken here on campus that he'll recognize.
When I told John what I was doing, he said he'd be blown away. I believe in letting young people know that small gestures never go unnoticed (and are immensely appreciated.)
Your thoughtfulness is legendary. I'm sure the young man will be touched with your gift. It is certainly beautiful. I had never heard of gazanias before.
What a wonderful idea and gesture, Louise. I love it! The young man will treasure that card for years to come. BTW, did you find the link to the photo collage, and have you found a name for my tree yet? ;-)
Yes, and those are the moments that remain with us for a lifetime. that was very thoughtful of you Louise, but that doesn't surprise me in the least. You just seem like that type of person. I look forward to meeting you and Ken one of these days
Thank you for sharing both this picture and the story that goes with it. What a thoughtful (and creative) way to express an appreciation for this young man's polite ways and to wish him well in the future. I'm sure he'll cherish the interaction as well as this card.
