About nine this evening when I heard "a number of emergency-vehicle sirens" moving fast and blaring their warnings, I said to Ken, "That has to be at least the fifth time I've heard so many of them out there tonight!"
He replied, "You just notice them because you're not in Lunenburg anymore..."
"No...it's not that...I notice them there...but you know what it is? ... Full moon!"
There must be some truth in that...even 48 hours later ...
**On black, you can make out the corona of "Waning Gibbous" at the bottom!
@ethelperry ha! If you only knew...! Tripod...check! Settings...check! Ken's assistance...check! ...and everytime I got it lined up, and set the timer for 2 seconds so my hands were clear, the camera "drifted"... Ken would say, "...well, it's rising..." I would counter with , "not that fast, it isn't!"
Realization after the fact...the full extension of the lens must have been weighting the camera to move, and if I had had a tripod leg centered under the lens, that *might* gave made a difference. ...ready to try once more on Feb 3rd...I checked! Stay at it!
I just love the banter that goes on between you and Ken! You guys are so cute. (I know he's probably one in a million, but if you find another one like him, please send him my way) And what a shot to be proud of! I'm still going to try this one day when I have invested in some more camera equipment ... watch this space
Great shot of this beautiful moon.
a joke. two girls on a wine. One ask.: what is a shorter distance : from here to Paris or from here to the moon. Easy, she answer . the moon of course . Can you see Paris from here ?
@stray_shooter LOL! We'll have a meet up & you can re-teach me to use the big Nikon! I never could get a good moon photo with it...might have been the reflection with the lens filter. Anyway, loving the 60x zoom...makes it hard to set it aside...
Wjen I was in college I volunteered at a home for emotionally disturbed children. (They almost certainly have a different term now) I remember the staff saying there was more activity from the kids when the moon was full.

The detail is amazing on the top where you can see the graters!
