When we first came to southern California in the early 1970s, I was delighted to see the exit sign to Sunset Blvd...it seemed somewhat exotic to me at the time. So when we passed this same place as we headed north up the coast, I grabbed another photo just for the fun of sharing this location with others around the world who may have heard of this place. (There is a wonderful old movie called "Sunset Boulevard" and I think it's recently been a major stage play)
New to the scene since my first photo in 1972 is the addition of the J Paul Getty Museum at the top of the hill on the left. It's a wonderful art museum...well worth a visit. And the round hotel to the left of the freeway is a Holiday Inn that, for its shape, has been used in many movies.
OK...that was your 5 cent mini visit to Los Angeles...
Absolutely love the Getty. We visited it when it was the Roman palace and didn't think it could be improved but the "new" Getty is Southern California all the way. Wonderful vista and not a traffic jam in sight!
@chard Do you still come out this way? Here's a laugh... I wanted this spot in a photo and it was about the ONLY place that wasn't stop-and-go traffic between OC and north of Ventura! We have NO idea why every LA-basin resident was in their car Friday at 11 AM!
Remember that movie very well.
