Funny thing about the hula, as with sign language, the hands do tell the story. Tito was singing "Blue Hawaii" and this surely speaks that line. Did I not tell you this young lady is both beautiful and graceful? Who could keep their eyes off her? She rotates with a couple of other dances, but she's my favorite to photograph.
How lovely it was to get out from my back-door fixed-focus photography for a few hours!
good for you as you must be bored being on your special bed a lot! what a lovely dancer you captured here. i could see how graceful she is. i used to dance the hula but that was 50 years ago when i was a lot limber. now i can't even flick my fingers! :-D wonderful shot, louise.
@summerfield I was only a child, but took hula lessons along with ballet when I was in Hawaii. "Long ago and far away"... You might not guess it to look at me now, but I'm glad (like you, I'm sure) to be able to claim that as a part of my past!
@Weezilou - very trule, but i would bet you have a picture or two to prove it. i had one, just one, and that conveniently got lost a long time ago. and i used to prove it by dancing the hula when the opportunity arose during my hey-days. now, i can't prove it anymore, hips suffer, knees uncooperative, hands too stiff and my shape is more like jabba the hutt. ugh! not a pleasant sight. sorry to mar your imagination. hahahaha! look back at the photo above then!
Weezi, so glad you were able to get out and about a little bit! That must mean there is improvement. I'm so very glad to hear it. I can *easily* see why you like to take pictures of this young woman's beauty and grace.
I will fully confess to you and @summerfield that I did NOT take hula - or any other - dance lessons as a youngster. However, there was a fair amount of dancing in my youth. I have not yet given up thinking I can and should continue as evidenced by my being on the dance floor at the wedding I attended Memorial Day weekend. (Yes, there are pictures. No, I'm not sharing!)
@summerfield Hi Twin! haha! I just didn't want her to come dance next to me when my dessert plate was filled with the creamy chocolate eclair and choco strawberries! (Don't tell anyone, but some of those cookies came home with me in my bag ;)
and JT, thanks for the always delightful note! I think YOU were being musical while I was dancing... Yes, determination will see me to the plane, now at the end of this month! It just has to be!
@chard@digitalrn@stray_shooter I know you'll believe me when I tell you it was you specific men I had in mind when I posted this...I was quite sure you'd like her. To me, she looks as though you could make a porcelain figurine from this stance and it would be a pleasure to look at it often in one's home. I looked at her even as she was dancing or standing by at other tables and there wasn't a moment she wasn't just gorgeous.
Total grace and beauty. Even in this still shot she appears to be floating on air. I know you were thrilled to get out and about, Louise. I have a feeling you're not kept down for long. ☺
