In the States, we really don't focus on Christmas preparations until after Thanksgiving at the end of November. Here in Canada, Thanksgiving was weeks ago, but people respectfully wait until after Remembrance Day (Veteran's Day) before the decorations go up. This magazine grabbed my hand and made me add it to the shopping cart. If I only look at the pictures, I won't put on a ounce...
@kwind haha...believe it! I think a cookie magazine is my first purchase every year!
@lsanderson55 Until coming here, I had no idea either! If I make cookies, may I send them to you?! Can't have them working their wicked magic on me for a month!
@photographycrazy Atta girl, Sam! May I be the first to wish you and Dad Merry Christmas ;)
@lynnz ...and I have a bruised wrist to prove it....I struggled, but lost in round one! (Hallmark cookie jar-like-new at the discount store for $2.99! Up here - those Canadian prices on cards & books? - I'd pay 3x that for a card alone! Score!) I have money left for butter and eggs!
@lsanderson55 ...perhaps when I'm back in California! Mail from here seems to be walked across the border...at leisure... (Even this heavenly place has its price to pay!)
it screamed and begged for you to take it, non? :-) i'm still pining for the meringue that never was. hehehehe! although the nut clusters were absolutely beautiful and bill and i ate his all the way to toronto. don't ask me what happened to my bag. :-)
It use to be that we waited till after Thanksgiving before Christmas signs started showing up. But of late I have seen several Christmas commercials and this morning I saw a pick up with a wreath on it. Love your shot though, it really speaks Holidays.
Lovely holiday shot! I cannot bear to feel Christmassy before December - although I do start buying bits 'n' bobs for our 'children's' stockings in November. Even at 20 and 21, I know that this is their favourite surprise of the holidays - rummaging in the stocking to see what goodies it holds. I try hard not to spend money on useless items, so I start the process early and fill their stockings with all sorts of things - ranging from toothbrushes to underpants, to luxury items, fruit and usually a bit of cash. I bought some chocolate coins the other day at the supermarket (chocolate coins and a tangerine are an essential part of the stocking as I always got those when I was little) ... and I was horrified to see that they've updated these bags of coins to include NOTES! Oh la la! A sign of the times.
We have to wait ( most of the shops do) till after the 5 th of December . We have `` Sinterklaas`` first.
Sinterklaas is some like you Santa Claus. Only he is an historical bishop
figure that gives the children presents on his birthday . He did use to have black helpers . This is very controversy now as foreigners think of discrimination and we say they are black as they deliver the presents trough the chimneys of houses
lovely promise of Christmas treats. The shops heere have gone mad with Christmas decorations but people usually wait till November 14 when Adelaide puts on the famous Christmas Pageant and Santa comes to town before they put up their trees.
