After working a long while on this image last night, I posted it, but wasn't happy with it. I went back to my classroom roots where I was taught to rework the image and see if I might not 1-make an improvement and 2-be better satisfied with the result. I'd learned some photoshop techniques last night, so put them into effect with a new approach. For me, this image is much stronger and, I think, more interesting. No need to comment again, but I wanted to save the progression of my idea.
Oh I like this one much better Louise! Not sure how you got to this point but I can sed a great difference in the two images. I admire all the hard work you put into an image! I really must try some tutorials! My mentoring group is going to be doing textures and layers so I am hoping to learn something! Your work always inspires me to want to be able to do that! Better pull my finger out! Lol!
So a lot more clarity now, contrast and sharpening. What if you softened the edges of your squirrel to make him look more 3 dimensional? The old postcard for a background is such an interesting contrast with the squirrel - similar textures and very different contextual meanings, at least for me. Isn't it so much fun? I love photo software almost more than i love my camera!
@teiko Thank you SO much for the constructive critique! I've just finished trying three ways to soften the edge and found that "the finger that pushes the pixels" did just the trick! I'll spare everyone a third attempt, but I'm pleased with the results and will keep that last step in mind when I do more! (Looks more "real" and not like a collaged, flat piece of paper! Most appreciated!)
Louise I'm sure you are up on the fact that it is Squirrel Appreciation Day (or so Facebook tells me - so it must be true...;) And since you are the Queen of the excellent squirrel pic, I thought you'd get a kick out of this. http://www.earthables.com/squirrel-appreciation-day-1565589094.html
@hbdaly Shame on me... I did NOT know! LOVED the photos you shared, and perhaps my inner soul knew (on some level) that the 21st was their day, as I've reworked the picture three times now, and it got better each time... Go figure! (Thanks!)
@teiko I've got a lot of empty slots.. may as well use it, but I don't want people to think I'm OCD about a mediocre project! When I post it, I'll "blame it on you!" And it should be pointed out that an unseen force led me to working on this, now understandable, as Holly informed me! Thanks you both *so -haha- much"! :)
