so.....this wasn't taken by me....it was taken by the dive guide...but I am so so excited that I had the chance to dive in the shark tank at the aquarium that I don't care.
When asked if I was nervous - of the sharks and rays my answer was no - of squeezing into a wet suit and breathing through a regulator - a little.
It's true I wasn't nervous at all about the sharks - Grey Nurse sharks are not a threat to divers or swimmers and actually have a very placid nature.
F*#k the gear is heavy - and even underwater - it was a restricted space - it was awkward - thought I would end up like a turtle on my back - I did stumble a bit but remained upright. At first I had to concentrate on the breathing but once the sharks and rays appeared I was in awe - one beautiful lady swam right over the top and between us - no threat - not interested in us at all - a couple of the rays were huge as they swam right over our heads - Striker - a 40 year old female grey nurse swam within a metre of us - it was breathtaking - if you have the chance and the nerve - do it!
uuuummmmm certainly don't have the nerve - and therefore won't be taking the chance, should it ever arise. respect to you, though, and it's a great image :)
i was holding my breath just reading your narrative. aces on you for doing this. i had vertigo when i tried on the suit, so no diving for me, but i'd have wanted to. :-P
An awesome capture - and obviously an awesome experience too! I love the water and the beach, but have no desire to swim with sharks :) Congratulations! fav
@studiouno I was nervous about the breathing not the sharks hahaha @30pics4jackiesdiamond no in Sydney at Manly @summerfield do it somewhere in warm water off a boat where you don't need a wetsuit :) @elatedpixie the equipment was my only concern - it was much easier than I expected
