Black-breasted buzzards are one of Australia’s largest birds of prey. Black-breasted Buzzards have thick, strong feet and long sharp claws.
They use a rock held in their beak to break open emu and bustard eggs and are listed as Vulnerable in New South Wales.
Fabulous 'head and shoulders' portrait. To get off the vulnerable list they might improve to change their food gathering strategy so as not to lose so much egg! Or they could join the millions of migrants on the move in search of pastures new. They had better not wait for the area's dominant species to bale them out'.
