Perentie

Perenties are the biggest monitor lizard in Australia, reaching lengths of 2 metres or more.
They can be found living in arid regions from Western Queensland to coastal Western Australia, usually around rocky hills and outcrops.

Terrific capture. We will be travelling up the Red Centre to Darwin then across the Pilbarra in April/May - would I be likely to see this in that area? I have never seen a lizard that big in Australia.

@judithdeacon that is their habitat - out in the dry rocky outcrops - I hope you are lucky enough to see one in the wild :)
