Perenties are the biggest monitor lizard in Australia, reaching lengths of 2 metres or more.
They can be found living in arid regions from Western Queensland to coastal Western Australia, usually around rocky hills and outcrops.
Nope, nope and more nope!! 🤣 however, you got a beautiful picture of him. Truth be told, I might be convinced, with a long enough lens, to stop and take a picture too.
Terrific capture. We will be travelling up the Red Centre to Darwin then across the Pilbarra in April/May - would I be likely to see this in that area? I have never seen a lizard that big in Australia.
