For the month of October my theme is What animal is this?
This week I am playing around with Nik's multilens.
Primarily found in Ethiopia, but also range into eastern Sudan, Eritrea, Djibouti and northern Somalia. They also occur in the Arabian Peninsula; in Saudi Arabia and Yemen. Within these countries numbers are of least concern and while they do not have any major range-wide threats, locally they are under pressure from their habitat being converted into farmland.
There are five different species of baboons. All of them live in Africa or Arabia. Baboons are some of the world's largest monkeys. This one is a Hamadryas baboon, it is a cliff-dweller living in the hills along the Red Sea coasts of Africa and Arabia.
