We watched the sunset on the Schoodic Peninsula, Birch, Harbor, Maine, part of Acadia National Park this evening. It was just so beautiful, brisk temps with the just sound of ocean surrounding us. As the sun dipped from view, faint clapping was heard from folks watching. Many of the license plates in the parking lot where on cars from landlocked states. I can only imagine the awe of seeing the ocean for the first time as an adult. Something like what I felt when I saw the Grand Canyon or the Rocky Mountains for the first time. Unforgettable.
We spent the day in Acadia on the Schoodic Peninsula and in the sweet little town of Winter Harbor. Many trees were beginning to show brilliant color as we drove the hour and 15 minutes dow Route 1 to Acadia, it was a gorgeous autumn day. Gorgeous. Love the idea of clapping the sunset. I can't imagine what it must be like never to have seen the sea. The furthest place from the sea here is a mere 70 miles.
