Today and over Half a Century Ago

BB and I met in 1970 at a Massachusetts Camp Fire Girls Camp in Hanson Massachusetts. I was a camper there as a child and worked there in 67, 68, 69, 70, 71 as a counselor and head of Puppetry. BB was head of Tennis and Archery. Our other close friends were Arts & Craft Heads and the Nature Counselor. Since the beginning of the Pandemic, five of us have had a text exchange each day, half century plus friends, in Massachusetts, Vermont and California.

The collage contains pictures taken today and from my archives of our days there in the 20th Century. The nationally famous double H dock system, the wonderful tree lined road leading there and five of us and two other friends performing a 50s song fest at a counselor show. As we said then, "We had a blast" and thought we were the coolest. It was a great experience for me who became an elementary school teacher and for finding forever friends.

WOHELO, Work, Health & Love, the Camp Fire watchword

The camp is now a recreation area, 68 acres for the town of Hanson Massachusetts, saved from becoming a housing development.

For the Record,
This day came in cold and sunny, rain tomorrow, but it's spitting snow now for BB.

All hands begging for PEACE.
A wonderful series of photos and memories

The last night of any camp is always a tearjerker as you say goodbye to friends.

@tunia The gift of those now forever friends that you cried over a half century ago is really something.
