Famous Five----Irene Parlby Park

Well as we continue on the paths that run by the river we make our way into a nice neighbourhood in the river valley. Hidden away is the Irene Parlby Park.
Irene Parlby was born in London England in 1868. She died in Red Deer AB in 1965.
She was the president of the United Farm Women of Alberta as well as a member of the Board of Governors of the University of Alberta. In 1921 she was elected to the Alberta Legislature and was appointed as Alberta's first Cabinet Minister and the second one in Canada.
As a MLA she helped establish traveling medical clinics and introduced the Minimum Wage Act for Women in 1925
Looks like a lovely park to walk through. Nice and green.
