Yesterday Melody surprised me with a special time out. We went to the Hotel MacDonald for the Sweetheart Tea. This is their Valentines version of their regular High Tea. Following lunch we took a tour of the hotel.
The highlight of the tour was when we were able to see the Royal Suite which is the room that Queen Elizabeth II stays in when she is here in Edmonton. This shot shows a portion of the two level suite. The bedroom is on the second level.
In case you are wondering, yes anyone can stay here for a mere $3000 per night. Over the next few days I will share a few of the sights from the tour
Wow, gorgeous digs for the queen...... and anyone else with $3000 a night. Only problem I see is that climbing the stairs to bed -- at the queen's age -- might ee a problem. I'm surely younger than she is, and a lot of stairs like this and I don't like each other now! Looking forward to more shots of this.
This is such a beautiful suite, and a lovely capture, too. The soft blues look so relaxing, as if one could just sink into the chairs. Am I right in thinking that Canada is its own nation independent of Great Britain, yet still recognizes Queen Elizabeth as her queen, and they her subjects? I can't exactly remember, I learned it in school so long ago!
That's a fantastic looking suite, but I think if I had the $3000 I'd rather spend it on something longr lasting - like a long holiday or some camera gear
$3000 you say? why, i could buy a really good lens and accessories with that kind of money! but the room looks nice and cozy and the subtle colours I would are just fine by her majesty!
Has the Queen stayed here then?
