Heading north of Beaumont takes us to Ellerslie Road and St Paul's Lutheran Church. Similar to yesterdays church this is not the first building on this site.
The original church was built in 1896. On July 27, 1935 lightning struck the church causing a fire that destroyed the church. The congregation rebuilt and this building was dedicated on August 9, 1936
Brian, I do like this...... The bell in front of the church and the "framing" by the tree are real attention getters that draw the viewer into the photo. Also like how the branches of the tree make you look through them to the steeple.
Great shot....love that bell!!! Saw a really lovely bell on a church and just when the bells started to ring I realized it was a recording! Very disappointing
Love the way the sunlit church is framed by the dark branches and their shadow son the ground.. That's a very impressive bell in front, is it perhaps from the older church, the one that was burned?
This is a fabulous composition! (During the 1960's, 70's and 80's, my family attended St. Peter's Lutheran church. The building was across the street from our house.) The framing of trees and shadows look great!
