Old and New

I saw today's word was Old and New I knew I could come up with something. This is the same location. The house on the left was built in 1914.It had a few different families over the years.
It was torn down in 1968 by the University of Alberta for them to make room for the Law Building
I suppose it was a valuable site, but I know which I would prefer to look at! Well researched, Brian!

Nice capture Brian but the newer building doesn't grace the site like the older one did.

What a contrast!

Personally,, I like the style of the old house. The law library? Too modern architecturally by comparison. Definitely a difference in style and definitely an old and new contrast.
April 22nd, 2014
Cool contrast
April 22nd, 2014
Yes I agree I also like the style of the house.
April 22nd, 2014
Ah...progress! Great contrast though!

Great collage for the title theme, well done.

What a grand building; shame it has been replaced. Is that a door on the top left? I wonder if it went out onto a veranda; great find Brian

Great shots

That house is stunning!!! Great photos!
April 22nd, 2014
Nice contrast between the two styles!!
April 22nd, 2014
Too bad the beautiful old house had to go. Nice to see the before and after for comparison.
April 22nd, 2014
Fantastic capture and choice! Neo-Tudor F. Scott Fitzgerald vs. Soviet Bloc Readymix...hmmm.
April 22nd, 2014
Too bad it had to be torn down. I like the old architecture style of that home.
April 22nd, 2014
Can't help loving the old much more than the new in this case. The Law Library looks like brutalist architecture, which is also the style of the Robarts Library (also known as "Fort Book") at the University of Toronto.

Quel dommage pour l'ancien bâtiment je préfère l'architecture de l’ancienne maison , une superbe image

Wow, how interesting! It's hard to believe they're the same place, the new is so different. I think I too prefer the old one - Lucy

Oh how sad- the old one was so lovely! Great collage.
April 23rd, 2014
Wow, its great to see the side by side comparison like this! Its strange to know how much buildings change over time and you captured it perfectly in these shots!
April 23rd, 2014
Quite the change they gave it! I like the old one too!
April 23rd, 2014
Cool that you had a photo of the building that used to be there.
April 23rd, 2014

April 23rd, 2014
I'd prefer the old one to still be there.
April 23rd, 2014
