I trust you have all enjoyed this series of mural shots of the history of Beverly. The final shots I have decided to show you are of a couple who were pillars in the community.
Jacob and Aafje Prins arrived in Edmonton from Holland in 1927.
The Prins family upon arrival first lived in the Christian Reformed Church until they bought this large farm house in Beverly. As you can see farming was a big part of their lives.
The house they bought needed to be large not just for their own family but also to house other Dutch families who immigrated to this area until they were more settled themselves.
Aafje passed away in 1949 and Jacob lived until 1963. The house they lived in for so many years was demolished in 1969
This is a fascinating mural series. I enjoyed it very much. The colors, the details, the story it tell -- all very interesting and insightful and show how dedicated the community is to celebrating its heritage.
It looks like I've missed your series with all the renovation going on in our house. will have a quick look. very interesting picture. I find it wonderful how people in those days helped other immigrants.
These lovely rural shots take me back and I love all the details including the car and farm equipment. Too bad the home was demolished. It looks like the perfect spot for a large family.
Great story. I just learned today that the hospital that I was born in was also torn down. Somehow that makes me feel so sad! How silly- it's not that I REMEMBER being born there! Nice capture- it's been a lovely series!
All of the mural shots were marvelous! I love how the artist used color and detail in his paintings. I love knowing the history of places and people, so thank you for sharing these. Lovely series, bkb!
@ribbet9 I am glad you enjoyed it Candace and my apologies but with the Smilebox program I used this was the largest I could get it. Maybe I wll have to try a different program
