All That Remains by bkbinthecity

All That Remains

Part of Edmonton's history is in the meat packing industry. The north east section of the city over the years was home to several plants. None of the plants are around today. In fact all that remains is this smoke stack which was part of the Canada Packers Plant. I am not sure why it is still standing but it is and I have been wanting to take a picture of it for a long time and today was the day
Oh now I am wondering. My Sister in law lives in Laramie Wyoming and we kept googling this summer trying to find out what the two chimneys like this were in different parts of Laramie but came up with no answers

Basic positioning with this very tall chimney makes a statement!

How interesting that it's still there. Maybe it's used as a mobile phone mast or something similar.
October 14th, 2014
Great shot of the chimney - interesting that they left it there.

I to wander because a chimney is very expensive to maintain. Love those brick build chimneys. A beautiful capture of it
October 14th, 2014
Wow, what an interesting structure!
October 14th, 2014
Worth the wait!
October 14th, 2014
Still standing proud. It will probably become a landmark now.
October 14th, 2014
I think what makes it intriguing is that what it belonged to is gone. It looks so out of place! Good shot!
October 15th, 2014
Sort of sad, right? It's such a tall smokestack!

Nice shot. It makes for an interesting landmark. Perhaps that why they have never taken it down. It's quite tall and you can't miss it and I bet it's easy when giving someone directions - "Just past the giant smoke stack. . . "
October 16th, 2014
@tonydebont It certainly is something we do not see anymore
October 16th, 2014
@lilminimonka Well this was where the plant would have stood back in the day
