On Saturday January 17th Constable David Wynn and his partner were dealing with a stolen vehicle at a casino when suddenly things went horribly wrong. Both officers were shot by the man who stole the vehicle. On Wednesday January 21st Const. Wynn passed away.
Tomorrow there will be a full Regimental Funeral to honor this fallen hero.
I took this shot of flags at half mast at RCMP K Division. Thank you all for remembering his wife and three children in your prayers. Const. Wynn was also a huge part of one of the local schools in St. Albert.
His partner Auxillary Constable Derek Bond was shot in the arm and torso. He survived but has a long recovery ahead of him
I'm so sad to hear about the senseless violence that took a good man's life. His friends and family will be in my prayers. This photo is a lovely tribute to him and all of those who put their lives on the line for us.
How awful...... We heard about the shooting, hadn't heard that he passed away. What is happening in this world we live in these days. All way too much of this killing and maiming going on. Our prayers are with both families of these two heroes.
I've been reading about this horrible shooting in the paper and feeling sad and helpless. Surely the world is full enough of danger without members of our species destroying each other. Thanks for the tribute, Brian.
What a tragic story. It's amazing that men like these put their lives on the line for citizens. They should be honored every day, not just when they are taken in the line of duty. It's good that flags are at half staff. They should be. May he rest in peace and may they catch the animals who did it.
It's beyond our sensibilities to comprehend how any individual could up the ante by going from stealing to killing. What sadness there is in this world when good men are taken from our midst. My prayers are for his wife and children that they eventually can find some peace.
Lovely tribute but nothing is enough to recognise the life taken. As in all these circumstances, it is the survivors that pay the biggest price. His wife and children deserve special recognition. Sad occasion, great capture.
@bkbinthecity It's too bad he took his own life. I'm sure the rest of the force wouldn't have minded if he'd turn his gun on them so they could take him out themselves. Oh - that may be a bit harsh. I don't like criminals - especially those who injure or kill those who protect us from people like them.

a great reminder of the price some pay.
