Today is a sad day here in Edmonton as we need to come to grips with the loss of a member of the Edmonton Police Service. Last night while trying to execute a warrent for the arrest of a man in a hate crime case Constable Daniel Woodall was shot and killed. Earlier this year we dealt with a member of the RCMP who was killed in the line of duty. It has been 25 years since a member of the EPS was killed in the line of duty.
After work I made my way to Constable Ezio Faraone Park. This park and statue honour Constable Faraone who was killed June 25, 1990.
As you can see some flowers have been left here to remember Constable Woodall
Constable Woodall leaves behind a wife and two young boys. Daniel and his wife Claire were originally from England and family members are making there way over here.
Please keep them in your prayers as they must now adjust to life without a husband and father.
This picture is to remember all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice while serving to protect the lives of others
that is really very unfortunate, and i feel sad for officer woodall's family. my sympathies to the late offier's family and friends and to the city of edmonton for their loss.
Thank you.
My older son is a police officer in NYPD. There has been so much negative in the press about the police lately, it gets discouraging. So thanks for your appreciation of those officers out there doing all the unpleasant and dangerous jobs that it takes to keep civilization safe.
What a tragic story .... but your photo is a fitting way to share what is a salutary reminder of how much we owe to police who seem to face so much hostility these days
So glad you made it to this park to pay tribute and to share this with the 365 family. How very sad it is that there is such low respect for so many and so many lose their life in the line of duty. I do feel so sad for his wife and family. A very touching tribute shot, Brian.
@colleenculhane Your welcome Colleen. Please pass on a message to your son that I honour him for the job he does as I am sure in NYC it must at times be extremely difficult
Once again you have taken a shot that is touching, meaningful and pays a lovely tribute to someone who has given their all for others. I hope that as his children grow people who knew their father will be able to inspire them and tell them about him and how much he loved them.
@nickspicsnz I realize that as a police officer you now the dangers involved however I do not think anyone is really prepared for domething like this when it happens
What a tragic thing to have happen. It's so hard on the community but especially the family. I hope the person was arrested and is never set free. Nothing can take away the pain of such a loss. I'm sure the friends he made on the force will make sure that his family is taken care of.
Whah a lovely tribute to ALL police officers who are killed in the line of duty.. and it is happening all too often these days. These brave men and women put their lives on the line for us each and every day. They can never be shown enough appreciation for what they do.. Our thoughts, prayers,, and condolences are with the family of Officer Woodall and the entire city of Edmonton at this time.
