Let me thank all of you for your kind words and prayers for the Woodall family in light of Monday nights tragic events here in Edmonton.
I had planned on getting back to my Out The Back Door series I was doing but as I was making a bus connection today I came across this artist painting this mural.
Earlier this year a local theatre was destroyed by fire and now a number of groups, businesses and organizations are coming together to try to help in the rebuilding process. Until that happens this mural is sitting on street level where the theatre was located.
I had a chance to talk with the man and he told me that he was hired by the city to paint this and he did have some help from some inner city youth with part of the painting.
I am pleased to say that the printing company I work for donated their services to print some posters and brochures for a art festival coming up to also help with the rebuilding process
I really like his colors and that he made the mural about the movie theater. I think this was a nice detour from your "out the back door" series and good for your company's part in the fund-raising!
Fabulous street art and an interesting story. How nice that he was commissioned to do this work. There are lots of commissioned street art works in Newcastle and it really brightens up the city.
OMG, I can't believe the horrific tragedy in Edmonton this week. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the downed officer, but also with the city itself. Edmonton will need some healing too. Back to your photo -- Nice shot, and this guy is a real artist.
Street art in the right place is always amazing and you've captured it so well. I hate it when it's mindless "tagging" but this is bright and vibrant and perfect.
Great shot. :) Following now and nice to meet ya!!! I have friends living near you.
