The Last Spike

On our way home we made a stop at The Last Spike National Historic Site.
It was here that Sir Donald Smith drove in the last spike to complete the Canadian Pacific Trans Continental railway.

Very interesting. In the U.S. we talk of the golden spike where the western and eastern railways met at Promontory, Utah and the First Transcontinental Railroad in the United States was officially completed on May 10, 1869.
