Day twenty-four of my series on Things Canada is Known For. Today my post is the classic piece of winter clothing. The Touque.
Here is my touque I got when I used to deliver newspapers during the early hours of the morning. Today I use it while I am outside shoveling the snow off of the sidewalks
I've never heard of a touque either! I thought it might have been the jacket. I'd call your headgear a bonnet, or possibly a beanie. From a quick google, I note that it can also be spelled 'toque' and is the same word for a chef's hat. I also discovered that 'toque' is an arabic word and is used to refer to any brimless hat. Interesting.
Nothing beats a good warm touque! Nice to see you smiling in the snow. @pusspup@jamibann A beanie is much lighter and a different thing altogether! Touques are normally wool and designed for warmth. And they do NOT have pompoms on the top either. :-)
Will snow ploughs be in the series???
Great selfie too
