Reflected in a puddle after all the heavy rain. Here to see A Christmas Carol, our rebooked show, the original date on 29 Dec we'd booked having been cancelled due to COVID in the cast.
All very organised, mandatory masks and we had to show proof of negative tests - good as theatre was full. Excellent production, the same as the one we saw 3 years ago but with Stephen Mangan as Scrooge instead of Rhys Ifans. And we got a free mince pie to go with the mulled wine I had at interval. Fake snow poured from the ceiling as the show ended. Not a dry eye in the house - or maybe that was just me.
A bit of time after before our meal reservation, so we wandered the small streets parallel to Waterloo Road. Never been that way before, really quite interesting and historic, charming terraces straight out of some episode of Call the Midwife.
Meal at Auberge, a bar-restaurant. I was hoping for escargots but they seemed to be off the menu. Food was OK if a bit pub-grubby. But good pub-grub, excellent nachos and a huge plate of fries and an enormous halloumi burger. Too full after. I let Dave eat his creme brulé on his own.
Home for a quiet evening reading, and generally fretting. So much for only worrying during 'worry time'.
