I was in Cranwell village this morning, seeing my friend & hairdresser. You are able to drive through Cranwell camp & this impressive building is a must to see. I’m always a little wary of taking pictures of military buildings, but there were no signs to say not & no one stopped me! This college is where wannabe officers are trained & there are probably other educational things that happen here too (being ex army, don’t know too much about Air Force stuff!). A fantastic building though....
It is a very impressive building and brought back memories.
Our official mess when we were there was College Hall because David was there on an engineering course, but generally we used Trenchard Mess because that was the engineers mess.
The direct entrance officers lived at College Hall mess and David was commissioned from the ranks.
We had our summer ball at College Hall though and other official functions there. It is an impressive building inside too. If ever you get chance to go inside, the inside of that dome looks amazing.
Next time you are there get a photo of our old house, we lived at 5 High Dyke Road.
