excellent Wedding shot Carole , there are some privacy rules re wedding photography and the register. As photographers we are not meant to photograph the register signing (data protection , privacy etc.) . The registrar should have briefed you :)
@phil_howcroft yes we know that, because it is a legal document, this is in place of. I just remember when my daughter got married there was an actual book, but the official bit that they signed was also a piece of paper.
@carole_sandford I think the whole process is changing , the church wedding register is changing too, all to do with going digital and ensuring no fraud , the book might become a thing of the past and the A4 certificate is sent off to a central database !
Yes nice one and @phil_howcroft is more or less right - last year they brought in this change to the way it's been done for centuries. Everyone would sign a real book that would then be kept in the local church, register office etc (and 100s of years later, family historians would scour through them). Now you sign this bit of paper and it's entered into a centralised marriage registration database later. I'm not against it as such but like all digitisation we now run the risk of that data not being available/accessible for future generations in the same way for any number of reasons.
With regard registers, back in the day (when we got married for example) apart from the odd other location, you could only get married in a church or a registers office, so a book was fine; now you can get married almost anywhere and you'd then have books in football stadiums, parks, pubs (like the White Heather) etc so it makes sense to now have a centrally digitised system
This is a very professional shot Carol…..the bride couldn’t ask for more….they look a very happy couple. Well done! You will be getting a name soon!! 🤣🤣
