We spent our afternoon downtown in Porkopolis. Cincinnati, the Queen City, was known as Porkopolis in the early 1800's as it was the biggest pork processing center. We honor that today with all of the decorated pigs that are downtown. We host The Flying Pig Marathon. We saw a lot of the pigs this afternoon. We went to The City Flea - a juried flea market that is held once a month downtown. I bought a little ceramic for a necklace. Then we walked a block over to Washington Park to the Celtic Festival. I took shots of men in kilts playing bagpipes and even more pigs. Then we ran into the library and saw quite a few more of them. So, the shot of the day has to be a pig. I couldn't pick just one. And there is my husband again, being a good sport with the pig.
Wow. What a collection. Great collage. Thanks for including all of them. I've seen decorated pianos, decorated elephants, and now decorated pigs. Such fun.
Marvellous!! I shot a decorated cow in London last month... there were more than one but I didn't have time to stop and got carried away (understandably) with paralympia.... I must look it out! These are such fun
Thanks to each of you that commented on the pigs. Not many cities that have a pig as a mascot.
